TRISH’S WEDDING DAY

December 10, 2011

Four weeks ago we learned that our youngest daughter, Trish, and her ex-fiance’, Justin, were seeing each other again after a five-month separation. A week later they came to our house and surprised us with the news that they were re-engaged. Not only that – the wedding date was only three weeks hence, on December 10th.

Like all dates with destiny, the big day arrived too soon. Everything was done except the most difficult part – packaging the bride-to-be. She required air-brushed foundation, make-up, a hairdo, the doohickey in her hair, and a friend to strap her into the gown. It all went smoothly until the false eyelashes refused to stick. After a brief appearance from “bridezilla” and a quick trip to the drugstore, order was restored  but we were late leaving Langley. After a stressful trip across Surrey we arrived at the Washington Avenue Grill in White Rock only twenty minutes late for the 3:00 PM appointment with Justin and the marriage commissioner. They, and twenty guests, were waiting in an upstairs corner of the restaurant that offered a view of Semiahmoo Bay. A few minutes later, after a brief but touching ceremony, Patricia Elizabeth Young and Justin Gaskin were pronounced husband and wife.

After the ceremony, we walked down to the beach for some photos before the sun set behind the happy couple. We were quite the curiosity to the dogs, and their poop-picker-uppers, out for a late afternoon stroll along the bay.

We returned to the restaurant as the meal was being served (we had to make way for an incoming Christmas party). From there we made our way to Justin’s brother’s house, a couple of kilometres away, for drinks, snacks, wedding cake, and ping pong while the Gaskins and Youngs got to know each other. After cutting the cake, Justin and Trish were whisked away to a honeymoon suite in downtown Vancouver in a stretch limousine.

It was a great day and we wish them luck, love and much happiness.

P.S. The bride was beautiful and they made a handsome couple.

Finally leaving the house.

The vows.

The deal's not done until the contract is signed.

Jared, Karie Anne, Andrew, and Madison.

On the beach.

Who let the dogs out?

No digits were lost.
